MEET RACHEL PEACE
Hi! I’m Rachel Peace and I’m running to represent you in Congress!
As a millennial born and raised here at the Shore and now as a single mom raising my son here, I know and love our community.
I’m running to represent you, me, and our families in Congressional District 4, which includes portions of Monmouth and Ocean County.
I’m doing this with the conviction that we the people belong in power, so that we can all go from surviving to thriving.
I’m campaigning as a regular person, NOT a career politician; I never planned on running for office, but if no one else will run (& win), I have to.
Who I’m Up Against
Chris Smith: your current member of Congress. He’s been in office for 45 years. During that time he has had every chance to make things better, but everything has only gotten worse. Smith still believes in trickle down economics, but he’d probably know that none of the wealth has trickled down to us here at the shore if he actually lived here.
We, the Jersey Shore, deserve regular people—not this career politician—to represent us. That’s me. I do the work, in my own time, to make life better for our neighbors in between preschool dropoff & pickup.
The difference?
I’ve worked to make our lives better, and I’m not even in office yet. Chris Smith can’t even show up to a town hall.
Chris Smith voted for legislation that hurts kids and families while claiming to be pro-life. At the same time, I’ve gotten county commissioners to pass resolutions to protect programs so kids can see the doctor and go to sleep with food in their bellies.
Alongside local environmental action groups, I’ve worked towards holding polluters accountable for the damage we experience at the shore as a result of extreme weather, flooding, and hurricanes.
Your current congressman said NOTHING when FEMA came under attack, and regulations that protect clean air for our children and prevent ocean pollution were cut. The shore deserves someone who’ll make things better— not worse.
Meanwhile, I urged state lawmakers to send the bill to big oil—not taxpayers—to actively prepare for (not react to) future hurricanes.
We can do this together.
This campaign is for you if:
You’re tired of paying taxes while companies and billionaires take advantage of loopholes and get handouts the government pays for with your $$.
You want your taxes to cover: a quality education for your kids (from pre-k to college), daycare & aftercare while you work, doctors visits when your family’s sick.
You want to see our community united around shared values , instead of intentionally pitted against each other while people with more money than anyone could ever need, companies that only care about their shareholders, and politicians who've been bought rig the system against us and make sure we keep struggling.
